#felizcumpleaños Lucero aka ‘Potranco’ ~ 1 year old today!

And, in case you were wondering, ‘Potranco’ is not really a word. A female young horse is a potranca. A male young horse is a potrillo. But this year amongst the new births at Horses by Jose we had almost all potrancas. So, David (7) and Carlitos (6), who have been helping out at the ranch with the horses and have been around the new potrancas, began to call Lucero the ‘potranco’ figuring it must be the male equivalent of a potranca. It stuck. So, now all of us at the ranch refer to Lucero (which actually means ‘bright star’ for the star on his forehead - like Diamante is named that for the diamond on his forehead) as the Potranco.
