75-90 minute private guided ride suitable for all ages and experience levels
Gentle horses perfect for riders of all ages and abilities
Stunning scenery, from lush estuary trails to the most scenic beach in Northern Baja
Free photos and videos of your ride!
Optional stop on your way back to the port for Ensenada’s best tacos
$85 dollars per person (children under 4 ride free with a parent)
Your taxi to/from the port is $80 dollars for the first 4 people, $10/person additional - paid in cash to the driver upon your return to the port.

Horses by Jose is not just a business, it’s a family! There are many people who contribute to make it all happen at the ranch. With 30 + horses, 12 dogs, many sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, roosters and a donkey (Taquito!) there is always something to be done!

Jose Garcia

Jose Garcia has been working with horses his entire life. With more than 30 years providing horseback riding experiences for tourists and locals alike, his love of the animals and of life is contagious - just like his smile!

Erin Dunigan

Erin came to horses late in life, and with some fear to overcome. With the help of good horses and the patience of Jose, she has become a vaquera in her own right. Her horse, Luna, is a rescue who Erin says has 'rescued her as well.'

Our vaqueros are an essential part of the Horses by Jose team - helping to guide you on your ride, training the horses, and making sure it all gets done! Hector, Tonio, and Lalo have all been riding horses since they could walk and are ready to help you enjoy your authentic ranch experience.

I went horseback riding with my husband and daughter and can't recommend Horses by Jose enough! We are all new to horseback riding so, at first we were a little nervous. It took less than 2 seconds after meeting Jose, Erin and the horses to feel comfortable and that we were in expert hands. On the ride, we were accompanied by Jose and his son, 1 in front and 1 in back so they could watch us and the horses closely to make sure all was ok. The ride took us through breathtaking views of the mountains and then a ride on the beach. Jose and Erin are gracious hosts who know and love the area. This made for a memorable, fun experience !
